The government of India has launched a brand new APP called UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) at the global conference on cyberspace event held in New Delhi, under Digital India initiative. The GOI has launched many APPs under this initiative like mAadhaar, DigiSevak, MyGov, etc.
The APP is available for every Indian citizen with a valid Aadhaar Card can avail all the services with this APP. UMANG is jointly developed by Ministry of electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and National e-Governance Division (NeGD).
UMANG is available on Microsoft Store, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store and also available on Web (web.umang.gov.in), IVR, and SMS. UMANG will soon get the USSD support for using on feature phones without internet connection.
Through UMANG users can government is also providing customer support from 8 AM to 8 PM everyday through Live chat, E-mail, and Phone support. Right now UMANG is offering 162 services across 33 departments in Central and state department. Apart from that not every state government is offering services through UMANG app.
To create an account in UMANG you need to provide your phone number, and you can also link you Aadhaar card and social media accounts through this APP. Aadhaar details can’t be edited again once it is saved in the system.
Earlier launched DigiLocker APP aslo included in the UMANG APP and several other services of Government of India is available in this APP and will be available in future. UMANG APP has many features like: Aadhaar card, AICTE, AKPS, Bharat Gas, CBSE, DigiSevak, PMKVY, Bharat Bill Pay, and many more.
Along with English UMANG is also available in 12 other Indian regional languages including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and others. UMANG APP also have a force logout service that can be availed by calling customer care in case if the phone is lost.
